Tried to give Wyatt some time away from the B's

Just me and Wyatt going to the barn. Left to the sound of Smudgee screaming. Apparently she felt she should be going with.

Wyatt was way perky on the drive out to the barn. He hung out while I visited. Then he happily tagged along while I got Josie. As usual, he wanted to stay outside when I brought Josie in. He came in with a boarder, but I knew to put him in the rig. Nap time while I rode. I had an awesome ride. Josie and I warmed up quickly. She was in a great mood. Very responsive. I decided to work on leg yield and canter departs. We cantered from the trot, from the walk and I tried a halt canter depart for the first time. Oh glorious! Leg yield to the right is pretty solid but left we need a lot of work. One of our canters, we went on the the quarter line and I asked for yield to the right and she was right there. We were dancing.

Took Josie a while to cool out. Her winter coat is thickening up and with all that cantering she got sweaty on her chest, neck and flanks. I had Wyatt join us for the walk back to the red barn so Josie could have her well deserved dinner. I went in the barn with Josie and left Wyatt outside.

After getting Josie settled in her tie stall, I came back out and Wy was there. I noticed a mark on his upper, inside left leg. Closer inspection revealed a good sized wound. No idea how or when it happened. At this point K came along and I mentioned Wy's wound. She said she heard growling commotion and a yip and saw Wyatt coming away from the house. Well that explains that!

The ride home he was licking it and it was pretty long and deep by the time we arrived home. Vetericyn is my new animal medicine of choice. Cleans and heals. I strapped on the balloon collar and he was good to go.

I started thinking maybe he needed stitches but we are going to take the chance that it will be fine.
