We are all adjusting our routine. Two shame on me accidents. I really need to get up earlier.
Pix has tried bossing her around three times now and “protects” her from Wy and other dogs. Yesterday morning Pix tried to boss her out of the closet and Smudge told her she wasn’t the boss of her – Pix backed down a bit. This morning when Wy was indicating this was his toy she growled and barked back. I think she will be holding her own soon.
Wyatt is firm about his toys but hasn’t been over zealous. Pix tells her that Ellie Elephant and chicken are hers. Pix has played with her a few times which I like as Wyatt doesn’t “play” with other dogs.
When I went at mid day to exercise Smudge, I ended up bringing everybody to work as the weather was so nice. Smudge was a HUGE hit. She really got her share of socialization. I took the pack to the barn last night and again, go figure, Smudge was a huge hit! Her first experience with a horse in shoes walking down the aisle made her want to run the other way. I went with her and then picked her up for the next horses to be led by. First one, a little struggle and then the next one much interest and no fear (of course not the Alpha Bi!ch was holding her and had her back.
We went for a walk to just shy of the lake. She cried in the kennel most of the way home. You think she would have been exhausted. Nope she wanted to play when we got home. And then there was the next accident. Darn it! They wake up take them out, they play take them out, they drink, take them out, they eat, take them out. You would think I would have better timing. I am being trained again ;)
After a trip outside, we all hung out with Smudge getting to be on her back “reading the newspaper”. The first steps of my “I am Pack Leader” training. This morning we actually managed settle. With her on her side, head on the floor, sign and relax – resistance is futile. What a good girl. She is beginning to understand sit and sit in the kennel will make the door open as opposed to crying and pawing at it. I feed her from my hand for bonding.
She is settling in very well and I can see her Smudge personality coming through. I can’t wait to take her to the Fun Day!
