Now, why don't she write . . .

Apparently, when I am not able to ride, life isn't as interesting - to me anyways.

I took myself to dinner and a picture show on Friday. I saw Alice in Wonderland and I LOVED IT! This was in 3D mind you. Is that the most incredible thing EVER! It has really come a long way. I jumped a few times and squealed a few more. I did notice that no one else squealed. Tim Burton and Mr. Depp together - nothing is better than that. If you loved his run as Captain Jack you will love his table runway prance as The Mad Hatter. I would so love to see it again. I think it was just me but my eyes were a bit goofy for a few minutes afterward.

It was still light when I arrived to release the hounds so we went to our field. Hoping for better luck today - nope n o t h i n g ! Not even carcasses.

Saturday they had forecast rain, with this is mind I cranked up the radio and started cleaning. I got a bit annoyed when I couldn't find my snow shoes to put them in their bag. I looked high and low only to find them in the cupboard by the front door. Finding them was a fluke, I never put anything like that in there. I'm losing it I tell you (you have to have it to lose it comes to mind) ;)

The pups were bored and disgusted with me until the vacuum was fired up. Frontal assaults began with me shouting, "No! Leave It! Get!". This did not work very well. Next trip downstairs the pups will find themselves kennelized (get it penalized - hardy har I crack me up!)

I keep looking longingly outside at blue sky. I know it is chilly as we were out at dawn. I finally couldn't stand it and vowed to finish cleaning later if I could ride now.

Josie has her head in the feeder, raises upon hearing me call her and then plunges her greedy little mouth back in. Crap! Along the fence line avoiding the juicy (not in a good way), deep (again not in a good way) mud. She finally comes to me when I am about 15 feet away. Stubborn Mare! I notice her left front foot looks like it is missing a pad and shoe. She is now good about letting me check her feet in the field. Maybe it is that she realizes I probably won't drag her through the muck and the mud if I see she has lost her foot wear. I like that it came off and no need to worry about a nail in between the wall and sole like last time. Well, Josie! Here is a good scratch, here are your treats and there is your feeder. As I walk back with the halter I mumble to myself how much this sucks but mostly I am glad she is okay.

The pups and I take a walk down to the lake to make the drive worth while. It is very flooded. The water is up over the trail that has been worn down after many years and many hooves passing through. I couldn't even see the normal water crossing we take. In past years the fish have ended up on the wrong side when it was receded. I surely hope that doesn't happen. My dogs love dead fish. They love it so much they want to smell like one. I really need to write a note to through some dog shampoo in Josie's locker.

We say our goodbyes and head home.

I retaliated against the cleaning gods by not finishing cleaning. I had to cancel trot poles so I will clean in the morning. Ha!

Tuesday I had a vacation day so I could meet Dr. B to start on Spring Horsey stuff. I started with teeth as it is too early to do shots. This way the hit won't be so bad to the checking account. She had a few sharp spots. Dr. B pointed them out and I got to stuff my hand in Josie's mouth to feel them. Since she was groggy I took the opportunity to thin and shorten her mane. It looks really good. She is still able to hit me in the hip when I am doing the mane around her withers which she cannot stand. One more thing off the to do list.

A task I had been putting off was burning a picture CD for Jill. Check that one off too. Now I just need to mail it.

Can't complain but Life has been better . . .
