The farrier replaced Josie's shoe on Wednesday but I didn't make it out. No, I had the great idea to tramp through the woods with the pups after covering the field a couple of times. We found a pair of critter holes to try excavating. Pix gave it her best shot at digging it out. Wyatt just rants and then digs at the other hole for a bit. If Pix goes deaf it will be because Wy barks right in her ear. By saying, "Dig, dig, dig, dig!" he shuts up and digs for a bit.
Pix was thoroughly enjoying herself. She is very focused when it comes to working a hole. At one point, Pix looked up at me with a huge clump of mud stuck under her tongue. She took time out to get that out of the way. She had started panting and slowing down so it was time to move on. We followed a deer path to come out close to the paved path. Heading home watching the dogs be more relaxed than they have been in quite a while. And happy, very happy.
After dinner, I sat on the bed watching LOST and Facebooking, when I felt something on my neck. Argh!!!!!!!!!!!! It was a tick! He got a quick burial at sea. GAWD! I hate ticks, yuck, yuck and double yuck! The rest of the evening I felt them every where. You don't want to just assume that you just have the creepy crawlies and have to check each time. I hope the pup's Frontline shows up soon.
Pix has cut her pad playing with Elie Elephant so I headed to the barn by myself. Poor Wyatt has to keep her company. I do miss them but it is very nice focusing on Josie. Speaking of Josie, when I arrived she was in getting her grain.
Oh, oh, oh!!! Bad times is a coming. Surveyors are marking to change the small portion of two lanes to four. It will be right outside the summer pasture for the red barn horses. BASTARDS!!!!!!!!! The horses were all in an uproar Tuesday and some wouldn't go into the barn for their grain and later didn't want to eat their hay. Josie ate, yup, that is my food oriented mare all right. She might be distracted but she still stuffs her mouth. Hmmmm we are more and more a like when I think about it.
Back to the Mare. I let her eat hay for a half hour. She kept her shoes on overnight. Without having the bell boots on I was a bit worried.
Although it was nice, it was pretty chilly. Since I hadn't ridden her for a few days, I decided to ride inside. There was one lesson going on so I could ride pretty much as I wanted. Josie wasn't too rambunctious but nicely forward. I didn't feel anything so she hadn't torqued anything when she pulled her shoe. Yes!
I only rode for 40 minutes or so. I wanted to ride easy for both our sakes. We practiced a few halt to trot transitions and some canter work. Did a little leg yield and called it a day.
She was a bit sweaty on her chest and under the girth but with the cooler temps and her massive hair loss she wasn't overly wet.
Snacks were dispensed, hairs brushed and bell boots applied. Rest my Mare for we will be working outside this weekend. Must prepare for our dressage tests and cross rails class. Egads! I am insane ;)
Life is rocking it!
