We had a schooling show since we are all stranded due to the Strangles epidemic. I finally made it over 60 with a 62.6%. The ride felt just wonderful. I rode every step. Josie was relaxed and forward. I will have to post the Judge's comments as I am very proud of them.
I am pretty sure Pixie is preggers but am waiting for the 4 week mark. She is very needy, seems to be getting a little thicker and is tired a lot. Right now everything she does is a SURE SIGN OF PREGNANCY. I sure hope so. This male was a little rough on her. Her back has been sloughing scabs.
Wyatt was at first glad to have her back and then got angry as she was getting in the way of his play time. He can be a bit aggressive - toy in his mouth, shaking his head and stiff legged bouncing at Pix. She could easily take him but yet she yields.
One of my biggest projects was carpet cleaning on my workation. I have the machine, why I don't do it more often I don't know. It is a hassle though. I decided to leave the entertainment center in place but move everything else. I should have also left the bed in place but am glad I went ahead and moved it. Nothing like laying face first on a freshly cleaned carpet. MMMMMMMMM
I was just a whirlwind. Throwing out expired canned goods. Dusting the very tops of the cabinets. Just a cleaning fanatic.
Finally on Thursday Josie got shod. I don't think I could have withstood another day of cleaning. I rode Thursday afternoon. She was very happy to be at work. I had picked up some new Stubben leathers which are my size. No more 10 inches hanging out of the keepers. These don't even make it to the keeper. They might after they get more broken in but I don't even feel them where the old ones would get pushed up out of the keepers as I used my legs.
Friday was a video lesson with Heather. I was very pleased with the ride. I had some of my questions related to Josie answered. All horses are different and there are many different ways to achieve things. I want most to be correct in her training but I am a softy. I had purchased new spurs to assist in easing the use of my hands. My other one's were a bit too long and these are just right. I have them positioned low enough on my boot so that I only use them when I need to.
I am doing my best not to nag and had asked the girl nicely to move off and when no reaction was given she is quickly asked with leg and a tap which sends her flying forward - yes, a response - good girl! She is a quick study and remained in front of my leg.
Heather was impressed by our work. I am so looking forward to receiving the DVD. So busy doing as requested to improve the contact and to receive submission from the Mare and I didn't retain everything I was told. I do like Heather's style of training. The Mare responded nicely and became supply and easier to ride as I followed H's instruction. I could feel Josie's back come up and feel her carrying herself and moving like a Grand Prix horse beneath me. Dressage turns my little cow pushing Quarter Horse into such a glorious mover. Riding in Heaven once again. I LOVE IT!
We had very nice canter departs. We did trot serpentine half halting at the center line and then allowing her to trot forward. What a lovely feeling.
My ride Saturday was outside and I did a pretty good job of replicating the work.
