I told myself June 1 I will start looking for a job, next I find myself in the middle of cleaning my garage. The new way of finding a job didn't measure up to garage cleaning.
I have the Groom Hotwalker down now. I have even been allowed to feed. The horses have now accepted me. I get nickers in the morning when I arrive. When on the walker I see them perk up and look at me as to say, "Will you take me?" What I am seeing is that the hardest part of being a trainer is dealing with the owners. This makes me glad I am just a groom. The work is still hard but I can tell my stamina is building. Mentally this helps a lot. I find Monday morning blues to be a bother probably the spurring needed to get myself out there.
With the upcoming vacation of our farrier, I decided to have Josie's feet totally redone instead of a "fix it". This time of year she tends to grow faster and I end up not getting to ride for a couple of weeks. Twice now the farrier has had truck problems that have coincided with a shoe loss which resulted in a loss of riding time. I wanted to take advantage of the time off to ride more while still balancing not using too much petrol.
Smudgin finished her Performance Puppy I and has completed her first week of Performance Puppy II. She received high praise last night. I was wondering how we were doing. Smudgin tugged really well tonight. She likes the raccoon tug but prefers real fur. We started elevating her two on two off board (this is a training method for contacts on agility equipment that requires the dogs to touch the beginning and ends on the A frame, teeter and dog walk).
Today she had her spay surgery. Due to a slight overbite she should not be bred. All went well but I decided to have her stay over night. I thought she would scream at being there and it turns out she is being a very good girl and just watching what is going on and being cute.
I think Pix and Wy are way enjoying their mini vacation from the Smudge.
To keep busy and my mind of the poor little girl's situation, I went over my resume again and posted it on several sites. Finally! I have gotten over the little speed bump. I did a few searches with negative results. I will probably need to do another resume for Admin type work.
After a one shoe layoff, I had two rides with each better than the last. The Mare looks wonderful, a little chubby but wonderful. I missed a trail ride with the gals. Hopefully next time.
Enjoying my once in a lifetime three month vacation but eager to resume employment.
