Stepping Out of the Comfort Zone

I signed Josie and I up to be in a 8 to 10 horse Quadrille demonstration ride during the Festival Under the Stars at the Washington County Fairgrounds September 18. We have had a meeting and it is doable. I have to pay for trailering. I started getting a fluttering feeling which means I am stepping out of the comfort zone but feeling good about it. The true test will be how will Josie be with the other horses.

During the meeting we discussed names but have yet to vote on those or ones that have come up since.

Thursday was our first practice, I opted not to ride and walked between the horses. Good choice as it really started storming. The sirens were going off but stopped. Josie and I would have been stuck in the barn as the lightening was fierce.

This past Sunday we practiced outside at the walk. I had ridden Senda in Quadrille way back at Eagle Creek but I am unfamiliar with the terminology - flanking, cross over, etc. We are also doing leap frog which is just like it sounds. Josie kept her opinion to herself almost the entire ride. I was very proud of her. I am giving myself a pat on the back for being relaxed. I wish we could have moved out of the trot - next time.

This is going to be such a good experience to be at a recognized show with Josie but without pressure. Sweeeeeet!

Here are some shots of the kids:
