The pups' Frontline has been on for 24 hours time to refill the pool. It is very miserable. Wy and Pix did their normal business, ate and got stuffed back into their kennels. I didn't want to take a chance bringing them along to check on Josie, my one-shoed wonder Mare. We will play later.
The drive was nice and peaceful. No Wyatt freaking and trying to get in my lap as a result of taking the cruise control off by touching the brake, sure it was a sign of his imminent demise. You really have to appreciate Wyatt's will to live. Everything is danger. Pixie has taught him a bit about gusto but Wyatt can't shake his long held beliefs that everything is out to get him. Hmmmmm again a similarity between myself and my animals. I must get it from them, yea, that's it.
I pulled up and see Josie following one of the geldings to the far end. She isn't to the lane yet so I yell "JOSIE! Josie Girl" she flicks an ear and her head turns so her eye confirms it is me and she keeps walking. She wanted nothing to do with me. I mean work and it is so hot. I can see her shoulder is dark with sweat. I give her one more chance, she gives me one more ear flick. I'll come back for her. Maybe she will come to me then.
New kid on the block a 14 hand black QH. What a cutie! I have never seen such a small QH. He looks like a pony and is a bit on the chubby size. He has a cute face and looks to have a good eye. I want to ride him - he is just too cute!
After catching up on what's up at the barn and helping a bit with the gates, I go back to fetch Josie. Ha! She is right up there. Must have come for more water - good girl! No colic for you. Mare has retained her one shoe. Thank goodness who knows how long it would have taken us to ouch, ouch, ouch up the driveway. She has salt marks in her sweat from the humidity and heat. Come on Mare, I got a plan for you. I perceived a small ahhhhhhhh when the cold water hit her legs and then neck. A little ooooh went it went over her back and loins (gee this is sounding like a romance novel). She seemed to appreciate my efforts to make her a bit more comfortable. Anything to make Uber Mare be a good girl for our possible lesson Thursday.
I decided to go the the Eight Horse Quadrille meeting. This would be for a demonstration at the Fall Festival at the Washington County Fairgrounds. This would be good exposure for Josie - the big time without the pressure. It would be very good for me - the big time without the pressure. I would be at a recognized show, with my horse but not competing what could be better. I worry about Mare being growly and myself not being able to remember the pattern. The best case scenario would be to be an alternate that ends up going along but doesn't do the quad - LOL! We have a meeting this weekend to learn more. I am proud of myself for even considering this. Busting loose - that's me!
Tomorrow is another biking night. A little research to see where going past French Lake gets me - Medicine Lake is what I am hoping for.
Dare to do it!
