The Back Side of the amputation!

Wyatt and Pixie are sure they have something under this ton of snow!

After taking a bit of a hiatus from blogging, I am back with a vengeance - hee, hee, hee. While Josie healed I focused on exercising and just being me for a bit. It has really helped with my riding focus. Sometimes you get a little too serious and need to chill. Since we can't go out on trail without difficulty, I just didn't ride seriously. Games with the ball and riding bareback just to move her. Now that we are back at it, I can totally tell the difference in Josie and mine's attitudes. And that would be for the better :)

What a WHITE Christmas!! By Friday the snow was up to if not over my knees, even though I am a bit height challenged, that is a lot of snow. I had the week off except the eve and luckily could work at home. I was happy about the snow until there was talk (is email considered talk?) of postponing Orphan Christmas. EEEEGADDDSSS! The Horror! The Horror! Yup! Postponed to Saturday. Poor planning on my part, nothing to eat or drink to make this oh so hard holiday bearable. Orphan Christmas has been a crutch that I am obviously not ready to give up yet.

Third times a charm - found an open liquor store and a meal from McDonald's and that was my Christmas Eve. I was a bit woeful and tears were shed - this was before the beer. Too icky to go to Josie for horsey sustenance to make it through. The pups filled in nicely, licking away my tears and being goofy. They do not like me sad - I don't like me sad. I know I am much, much luckier than a lot of people but I can still feel sorry for myself from time to time. One can't always be strong.

To keep busy and not dwell on what couldn't be helped, we snow shooed and hunted. At least the snow shoeing was successful . . . the poles I bought myself for Christmas last year worked wonderfully. It really makes SS a lot easier.

Saturday I had a really great ride. Things are really falling into place now. Leg yield to the right is weak for us. You'd think without the extra weight of her ear tip Josie would be able to glide right over but no. We both need more strength. To the left I can really see the cross over and reach. We were both steaming sweat and tired afterwards.

Tuesdays ride was even better. Reminding and using my left leg better really made an improvement to our leg yield. We are a work in progress and getting better everyday. You should see us picking up canter leads at will. Tuesday I had the arena by ourselves towards the end of our ride and was able to do a Training test and was really impressed with both of our efforts. Team Johnson rides again!

Life is very good but much, much better now that Christmas is over . . .

OH! One last thing - cancer free for all of 2009 - YIPPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
