Another beautiful day! I am really getting use to this weather.
I think Josie really loves the new treats I made. These took quite a long time to make and bake but boy am I feeling the love. I have quite a few more recipes to try but this gets the Josie four star stamp of approval.
I showed M how I was working the Moester. He was actually very obedient. I can see where routine in the work you do helps. Try for a walk to start but let him canter a few spins if he feels he has to. We took him right before his dinner so he wasn't too happy.
I went to get Josie and she was beating down the gate for me to get her. Just kidding but if I would have took much longer staging she might have.
I rode inside to make further progress with Josie. Again, sneaking the canter in early is really helping. I worked on sitting trot with no stirrups. The de-elevation of Josie's head lets me know when I am on the money. Oh, when we are on, we are definitely on. I could feel her back moving my seat bones, relaxing my elbows got her softer making the ride even better.
We worked pretty hard so to cool off I walked her down the lane but wasn't going to go on trail as I hadn't mentioned it to anyone. K with Indy came up after we had turned around. I asked her where she was going and she said she was just going to ask the same. I will if you will. Mind you this is Nemesis - LOL! What better way to get them to like each other than to have to depend on each other. I let her lead to start with.
K warned me she may need to spur her boy a bit to get him across the water. I volunteered to go ahead and she declined so Josie and I waited at a safe distance. Turns out there is a branch in the water that must have looked like a snake to him. He answer was no thank you! After letting her try a few times and she was over to the left of the entry, I took Josie over to the right, doing a bit of shoulder fore so she wouldn't notice the snake stick. She meandered right through. Indy not to be bested by his Nemesis soon followed. Josie and I led the way. She was a bit hesitant but I kept her moving at a pretty good pace. Josie is so amazing!!
We leap frogged to let Indy lead on the way back as Josie tends to get a little too quick. Good call as we spooked up a huge grey heron. Indy did the Bambi stance - legs sprawled and Josie did a quick foot shuffle. Not bad at all.
I didn't mention the train came the last time we trail rode. I look down the tracks and see the headlamp. Yikes! Indy went gaiting ahead and I and P just kept our horses moving. Now we have been our closest ever to the train. Not being good at measurements maybe a 100/200 feet. You could see a lot of detail. Josie just looked up at it and didn't really care. Alone might have been a different story but with Corey things are not so bad.
As always, looking forward to my next ride.
