Raf was a clinician at my barn this weekend. It was good to watch and learn. I taped L for both of her rides. She and Kans did very well. Sunday he gave her a good exercise which I plan to try on Josie. Of course not to the degree Kans is able to manage. I had used a bit of counter bend to get her on the right rein. She is left side hollow. There are differing opinions as to why a horse is left or right hollow. Some say due to the position of the foal in the womb and I heard from C yesterday that it may be eye dominate in the horse. Interestingly enough, it is Cindy Sydnor and her husband that have been investigating this. Her husband is an eye doc and he has been studying horses' eyes.
My goal as a dressage rider is to work both sides of my horse to eventually have her be equally strong and flexible on both sides. Dressage is a bit of gymnastics and body building. Being right handed, I try to do several things with my left so I gain more control over my left. Little things like brushing your teeth with your left hand. Believe be careful the first few times.
Wyatt doesn't like my left handed throwing. He goes long and it only goes about half the normal distance.
Watched a good movie this weekend. I was surprised to see Russel Crow in it. It was called The Sliver Stallion. It was about a brumby stallion in Australia. A girl and her mom, with the mom telling a story about the stallion from birth. I shouldn't say more.
Dinner with the BW crew for G's b-day. I was surprised to see G in a walker. First thing I thought was her horse had been naughty but it is from surgery she had a couple of years ago.
Josie for the first time saw me and went the other way. I think someone doesn't like the bar being raised. She did two left lead canter departs with only one try being the incorrect lead.
