Exercise - check
Breakfast - check
Be at barn for 11:00 trail ride - started checking the night before but ended up rushing to get there so I had a half hour to get ready instead of the preferred hour plus.
Managed to get ready in record time.
Went with P and J. My favorite trail companions. Pups in attendance were Wyatt, Pixie, Norton, Trixie and Jess - quite the pack. Rode in my western saddle and concentrated on keep my legs soft. It was such a BEAUTIFUL ride. The golden leaves were falling gently around us. Vivid colors every where you looked. Apparently, vivid smells as my normally white dog, Wyatt, turned dark and darker. We crossed the water which wasn't clear but not as bad as they were describing from the day before.
When we got back I decided to go back out. Pixie was in for the long haul, Wyatt came part of the way but wouldn't go any further. I tricked Josie by going up the embankment and the over the tracks. She was a little hesitant until she got to the normal trail, then she started stepping out. We crossed the water with no problem. Her pace through the woods was faster. She also wanted to run when Pixie would run. I had to tell Pix to hold up quite a few times. We made it though. She looked hard at one log which had some sunlight on it. This tells me that jumping from light to dark or dark to light might be an issue for her.
Let Josie go but went with her to show her the gate to the new pasture. The other horses saw her and came running up to the fence. Very excited to see her. It makes my heart soar that she fits in with them so well now. It seemed like they were saying, "Josie, look what we found, it is great, look at all this grass, come on we'll show you around!" I called to Josie to get her to the gate and then the galloping began. They did at least three laps. It was a wonder to see.
