Happy New Year! Things will be great in 2008!
Dropped Wy and Pix off at D's. As usual Wy was aware something was up. Driving away with a tear in my eye, I focused on getting to Josie. It is weird to go to the barn without the Jacks.
I got my first ride in of the year and my last for a couple of weeks. I lucked out and had the arena to myself. I tried three times to get Josie to canter and she would just tool off in this blazing trot upsetting my balance. I decided to dismount and lunge her to remind her of the verbal cue for canter. Sure 'nough . . . she picked it up the first time I asked her. Got her settled back down and mounted up.
She was anticipating which always helps. I gave her the verbal and physical cue and off we went on the left lead for about four or five strides before she broke. She was already steaming so I left it at that.
Had a late dinner and lots of fluids to tide me over until after the surgery.
