Wow! Already October. I am on horse time now and have lost all track of real time. I can barely keep up with what day it is. I am slowly figuring out when and where to ride. I am getting a little bit tired of having to justify my western saddle and when my horse is trotting too fast that I know to regulate her by putting my upper body back and slowing my posting. What they don't know is she gets stressed thinking she is going to need to canter. I keep in my mind what Stacie said and do it my way. She is my horse, she is young and she is wonderful. I need to learn to disregard those folks but it is hard.

I do know what I am doing. I have started enough horses. Also, the fact that I can't afford right now to get either of my saddles to fit her is something I cannot help. I don't like credit debt and have too many expenses right now. Pix needs her yearly, Josie's unexpected vet bill on top of her next week fall shots/floating, getting shoes on Josie's front feet, recovering from her purchase and training expenses, the western saddle and Wyatt's next level of agility class. Why do people think that other people have all this money is beyond me. I like my life and will live it how I please. Okay, I have vented and feel a little better.

I pulled out all my long line equipment and will start her in the round pen with the gear on. She is such a sweet mare.

I went to get Josie out of the field and from about 30 feet away I called and she walked up to me (steady my fluttering heart!). Dr. B came out today to look at Josie. He liked her. Well, of course she is a quarterhorse, buckskin and cute as a button. He gave her a shot and some sulphur for an upper respiratory infection. She handled the shot well and it looked like she ate up the grain and sulphur. He wants more weight on her and I told him we were trying. It was good J was there. He said don't do it all with grain and get her crazy. She is up to half a scoop and doing well so far. I think she is a little brighter but totally tolerable. We will see when she is feeling better how she is doing with the grain.

I saddled her up and took her to the indoor. We worked on mounting at the block again. I think it took more than eight tries but she finally stood still and when I got on she stood perfectly still. She has a great mind and is catching on. I have soooo much to teach her. Her cough is still there so mostly we walked. I did a little bit of trot and she is respond to leg and upper body. She is moving off my leg for turn on the forehand. She is better off my right leg than my left. I can flex her better to the left than the right. She was pinning her ears again so I got a little sterner with her and she stopped. Again, received unsolicited advice.

So cowboy and deal TJ!
