I love my new horse!!!!! I rode her for the first time and it was WONDERFUL. She is going very well with S. She put her through her paces so I could see how she is doing. She hadn’t been ridden for 3 days as they were doing ranch rodeo. She was very forward at the trot but then settled down after her energy level was slightly diminished. Her right lead isn’t as good as her left but she is taking it. She has a whoa that will teach me to sit back ;) She has become attached to Stacie which is understandable – it is showing me that she is sweet. She looks better than she did – missing some of that baby fat. After going down the trail on Peppy, I realize how much I love trail riding. I really haven’t trail rode since Tilly. I so look forward to Josie being at CC and of course our future escapades.
They had a 4 year old for me to ride and we went on a trail ride. Josie is going through water (3 times) up and down slippery, uneven ground. All we did was walk – my horse trotted a few times to put her nose on T’s horse’s butt. I should have let the dogs run with us but a gal was trying out a horse to buy and with Josie I didn’t want them getting under foot. Wyatt knows how to stay out of the way but I imagined Pixie seeing an opening and darting right underneath. Next time they are going with. They would enjoy it tremendously. Josie lets you know when she needs to check something out. She is not scared just curious. When we got back I got on her in the round pen with S telling me what to do. Western is different from dressage, aids are not the same for turning. I walked her around both directions did something that slightly resembled figure eight’s, and did some trotting. She stops very quickly but I was fine. She was pretty tired and with the riding we had already done I was very happy with what I did. I will have pictures to prove it soon. BTW my saddle fits and Stacie said it was very comfortable. I now have a saddle blanket with her smell so if I get lonely I can snuggle it – LOL.
At first Wyatt and Pix were all over the place. Wyatt listening best. They quickly settled down and would scamper around. Thanks to being up north they know the sound of squirrels and off they would go. Two minutes after letting the dogs out they rolled in dead raccoon – ick!!!! Pix is a very ambitious roller, wiggling and her feet kicking like crazy. We went for a walk and I got them swimming to get some of it off – baths required upon returning home.
Well, now it is five weeks to go . . . tick-tock, tick-tock
