Pixie's night to shine. Week three of Intermediate. I was better about practicing this week. As always the bar is raised. Tonight she put dishes with food in it at the four corners and we had to heel around them. Pixie did very well. Good thing I fed her before AND had roast beef for treats. During the sit and down stays, D threw a toy and then threw the toy and let her dog go after it. Pixie way perked up and her head followed the motion but she remained in place. D tried to fix her posture (usual tripod) but only made it worse - Pixie wasn't really comfortable with it and went into a puppy sit on one hip. I am fixing her every time but she is persistant with the tripod. I will have to get a picture. She does it more at class as she seems to really like the feel of the rubber mat - enough said on that.

Spoke with the trainer tonight. Josie is doing extremely well. She is just energetic - I was worried she was bucking or something but it turns out she is forward - gotta love that. She has been going down the trail just fine. She graduated from the round pen to the indoor arena. The flapping tarp causes her to flinch but she is getting accustomed to it. I don't know if I will be able to handle a horse that doesn't spin around and run in the opposite direction. She had a deer sighting while out on the trail and stood her ground but her head and neck went way up in the air. I can deal with that. I became very happy when trainer said "in a year you are going to have a very good horse". She has been around the cattle with no problem - okay dear why are deer different :) She has been going up and down hills and has crossed water.

The best news of all is they want me to come down and ride her. I will be going out on Sunday (is it Sunday yet????). I will bring my new used western saddle to make sure it fits her. I am SO excited!

They will worm her for me - good no worries there. She is in need of a trim and again they will take care of it for me.

It will be very hard after riding her to leave her there for the remainder of the time but it will be in my best interests.
