The doc wasn't sure what I had. If it was shingles it was very, very mild. The weird rash/inflammation on my knuckle - again no idea. Shingles are softer like the chicken pox ones. This is hard. He asked me if I burnt it - I really don't think so. I have been cooking with Olive Oil but it sure doesn't seem like a burn - it has evolved. It doesn't hurt unless I hit it. He gave me some ointment for it. It seems a bit better but looks worse as I have scraped it and poked it accidentally.

I did make an appointment for an entire body check. This had been put off due to my nose being halfway removed! Thought I better get a baseline started. I must mention it was very nice not to pay a co-pay since I am paying the max monthly now since it seems like I am going to the doctors so much more. The weird skin thing scared me a bit so rather than put it off I got in right away.
Friday was Syd's going away party. We chipped in for money for a helmet for her and had a pizza party. She is going to Hilltop, a very prestigious horse farm in Maryland. It wasn't what she wanted but with jobs few and far in between she decided to go for it. It was impressive that they contacted her. Good luck and this isn't good bye! I must admit she caused me a touch of concern when as we were all leaving afterwards, she found she had locked her keys in her car! Luckily, she had a spare in her tack box. I have known her since Eagle Creek when I had Senda. She was maybe 13 - just a babe. It is my pleasure having known such a good person and very capable rider. Presto is also going to Maryland, although he will never set foot on Hilltop. Until we meet again :)
The pups and I went to play soccer Saturday night. We had to wait as people kept showing up. We dined on left over pizza and chips. Here I had been eating so well and now pizza two nights in a row. The life style kind of went to hell while I was sick. No energy for shopping and chopping. Work out was not possible. I keep over heating when I have coughing attacks.
In between playing with the ball, I worked Josie. We had issues cantering to the left. She was throwing me out of position. I did the look over my outside shoulder trick and that seemed to help.
Sunday we got up early as we had Trot Poles. It has been a few weeks since out last time. We got in early for some warm up when I realized my peacock stirrups (rubberbands on the outside so you don't get dragged if something bad happens) were backwards. Although my K2 jumping saddle is broken in, it was with effort I swapped the leathers. No time to think just start going over poles - this works for me.
H made a skinny (a jump that is barely bigger than your horse). Josie walked over it fine but as we trotted up to it she lost sight of it and popped over it. I went with her very well. Go Team Johnson! H kept mixing things up. She liked Josie's energy but I need to "Package" her more. Hell, it is all I can do to do everything else to get over the poles. So much - eyes up, breath, keep your hands together, chest up. I will be glad when all is second nature. I asked and she said my upper body was doing much better. She kept saying she liked Josie's energy. My reply was I didn't want us to fall down. My legs and stamina was really good considering. It helped that we were doing a course and only one rider could go at a time. I kept going second. Josie had a couple of nice semi-jumps. H put a flower box out where the skinny was and that caused another pop over.
With the weather being so nice we went for a walk to cool off. The pups thoroughly enjoyed it. Wy was two-toned. Thank goodness I had stripped Pix. That would have been way the mess. We rode almost to the water crossing. I would have pressed on but didn't want the pups to cross the water - it wasn't THAT NICE. I can tell how much we all enjoyed being outside. Josie was most pleased with herself. Pix disappeared for a bit but caught up with us. Little butterfly girl as always. I didn't want the ride to end so we walked down to the red barn and back. I pretty much had to pull myself off. Bath was added to my already too long To Do list. Oh, well. It was more than worth it.
This day was most excellent!
