No sign of pregnancy yet ;)

That darn Josie girl! I last saw her Friday and it seems whenever I give her four days off she injures herself. This time she stepped on the inside of her left hind and took a chunk off. It's in that sensitive area to the inside of the bulb right above the coronet band. What distresses me is the mud she is in right now.

Due to our severe temperatures all my medicinal supplies are at home of course. L was kind enough to let me use her iodine soap. Josie handled the cleaning of this wound very well. I had her standing in the wash stall with all her gear on, washed it and she just stood. It must not hurt much as she didn't try to kick or even move away. Let's hope it stays that way.

Talking with the staff and then M, I had a oh, snit moment when I realized how late it was. After spotting her injury I almost didn't ride. I really wanted to try out her new girth. She was a little cautious of it and rather funny about it. I let her check it out and then put it on one side of the saddle. When I went around to the other side she was reaching her head around to check out the girth. I thought I could start it in the fourth hole on the off side - duh! You have elastic on both sides now and can move up either side.

As I wasn't sure how she would react to the new girth and I hadn't ridden her since Friday, I decided to walk her up the road and put her in the round pen. Can we say good call? First, she trotted with her back up and her head down, shaking her head from side to side with a strange look in her eye. As she was moving around humped up she picked up a canter that turned into a buckfest. I kept her tempered by asking her to trot and easing her with my voice.

I thought she had settled a bit only to have her jet around in a buttscooting way. Kind of like dogs do when they are squirrely. Yup! Good call to let her get it out.

Wyatt and Pix has discovered the mother load of gopher hunting area. Gonna have to keep a close eye on them when the horses get turned out in the pasture. I sure hope they get those nasty hole digging rodents. Gophers make a hole that is just the size for a horse to put a foot in and break a leg.

Josie is almost all buckskin now. Friday she was mottled in her barrel area, not any more. Now if Wy would finish shedding I might not end up with hair in my mouth when I put the windows down while driving. But then again, if I vacuum Coal perhaps that would help. Nah! Just wait a few more weeks. It will be all good.

With my upcoming horsey get together I won't be able to check Josie tomorrow. Hopefully, she will be just fine and no infection will get in. Speaking of the get together I have a lot left to do. My list is made so the decision process is done. Shopping for goodies and eating utensils and the house! Crappo! I start house sitting this weekend too. I can handle this. The pups don't know what is wrong with me these days. Lately, I play but not like a use to. Things will get back to normal soon enough. Thank goodness there is more daylight each day and my energy level increases with it.

I know my friends don't care that my home isn't the tidiest but you know how it is. With M moving in, I do have the second room open to stuff a few things into and can close the door for cover. I will be shaking a leg after work tomorrow to get the majority of tidy up completed.
