I had laid it on the line with R yesterday. He is actually being understanding. I had a wad of business cards and my MRI paperwork and said this is what is going on and I am thinking of mastectomies so will probably need a leave of absense. Genetics testing appointment today. Met Joy my genecits counselor and Dr. Londer my oncologist. Hmmm we will see how this goes. I answered several questions about my family tree as best as I could. Don't realize how much you don't know about the fam until you have to answer questions. Turns out I was wrong about the niece's ages. The youngest is now 25 - WOW! I guessed 23.

Genetics is very interesting. I am hoping insurance covers this otherwise we are talking $400. out of pocket. Being I haven't really been there for the nieces, this is something I can do for them.

So one blood draw later I am in the genetics database. I am a person that prefers to be unnoticed well so much for that. My finger prints are out there and now the good old DNA. It takes 3 weeks to get the test back. Three degrees of results - positive, negative and unknown. When the test is good it is great. Knowing how things go for me I will be amazed to see a positive. Am finding I will probably want a ovaryectomy also.
