Got Josie ready to find it was No Brakes day. Hmmm didn't appear on my calendar this time either. When I got her ready I noticed a bit of well, we will call it grunge on her hind white socks. I checked her patootie but it looked normal (guess I don't have a good base line yet) so didn't think nothing of it. We rode outside for what might be the last nice time. Loss of brakes were soon discovered. Trying and trying again from just a trot, she would go faster and faster. She was sweaty when I finished so we walked down to the red barn where I tied her to the hitching post for unsaddling. She peed so great, safe to take her in the barn - ya right. I got her cooler and laid it over, lifted her tail to put the strap under and she squirted on my arm and the blanket. Right away, well after an exclamation of oh, ick!, I thought perhaps there is a correlation between no brakes and her cycle. Supposedly they cycle every 28 days and that seems about right for the last loss of brakes.

Pixie took her first ride on Josie. While Josie was grazing I lifted Pix all the way up and let her go. She is such an athlete she immediately got her balance. I adjusted her so she sat astride. She stayed on no problem, made adjustments as Josie moved to find more grass.
