I recently had to erase this and want to keep it around. What better way than my blog! Friends and tech friends had their hand in this. Cute!
Josie was in eating when I arrived. I watched her walk out and she looked okay. She then got into the muddy track and it was hard to tell. I let her eat hay for about 45 minutes and went and caught her. She didn't want to leave her hay.
She actually wasn't too dirty. I noticed some marks on her front right. Pretty hard scabs so it was a pretty good scraping. I picked one and it bled so I will leave them alone. I took her to the round pen and she was good at walk, trot and canter. She took a funny step but it was more that the ground was hard. I am going through my horsey stuff to find the secret mix that toughens the sole of the foot. I may need to consider shoes on the hind feet but with the coming of winter I will probably pull her front - still in a quandry about what to do.
I felt brave today and was mainly going to walk so I decided to ride her bareback for the first time. She moved a bit at the mounting block and then stood. She is just right height so I could just slid a leg over and sit. I think my days of Indian style, handful of the mane and vaulting into place are over, even with a horse Josie's size. She checked out my foot on her own. I had her walk forward and you could tell she thought what the?? We walked around a few times and I did our flexing exercise. I have decided she feels alot like my Strawberry, a strawberry roan Welsh pony I had. Very slim. I can grip with my thighs but my calves have no purchase. I could tell during my ride I was getting better balanced but I would probably be helpless if she pulled any shinanagins. When asked to trot she took off at a greater speed than I was ready for but she handled my moving around. Eventually I got her to trot slower so it was more comfortable for us. Another first accomplished - YAHOOOOOO!
