After completing a few chores, we went to Schlatzlein's 100 Year anniversary. Think of it, a family owned and operated tack store They were able to block off the entire block. There were pony rides, singers and mounted police horses. I, of course, rose to the occasion by utilizing my Discover card. Oh, but I needed those wranglers, 3 season breeches, my favorite mane/tail conditioner and those paddock boots. I entered to win a western wool saddle pad and with a spin of the wheel, hit the grand prize which they were out of but, was able to take my pick all the other prizes. In light of the recent incident, I thought the rope halter and lead rope combo was a good idea. Very pretty blue and white which will go lovely with Josie's coloring (okay, what in my eyes doesn't look lovely on Josie?!?!). With the pups waiting in the truck down the block, I didn't linger overly long. Plus the fact that I am sure I would have found something else to uplift my spirits and support Schlatzlein's.

Caught Josie only to hear an odd sound when walking her on the concrete of the barn aisle. Darn it! She had twisted her shoe partly off. And OMG! the toe clip is in between her hoof wall and the sole. Argh! Luckily, C has farrier tools so I take that darn filly put her in the cross ties and proceed to rasp off the clinched nails on the outside and pull her shoe off from underneath. Now I know why a lot of farriers have back problems. Think of it first, you are bent over and crouch - depending on how tall you are (I didn't have that problem). Then your horse decides to rest all wait on the leg she is not standing on - THE ONE YOU ARE HOLDING. Oivay! I managed to get the shoe off and not put my back out. She got a few treats, hand fed at that.

I left a vmail for Dr. B regarding her cough and asked about the possibility of having her dentistry work done.
