The heat has finally broken. To the truck and off to BW for a ride and to run the wild Wyatt. I swear his stamina builds with each day. We get there and Wyatt is looking for his friends and nobody is there so I am the focus. Off to PJ's stall to him hello carrots and do our staging for our ride. He is looking much more content not standing sweating. Forgot the fan AGAIN! Then, off to the jumping field we go. Wy is at the point where I can point at the flower box and he will take it in stride. When we started he would run up to it put his front feet on the edge and I would boost him with Up and then he pause and Over and he would jump down turn around to do it again. I am trying not to do much until he finishes growing.

I thought I had him worn out enough to kennel while I rode but I was mistaken. Had to get off mid-ride take him out and put him back to just have him start barking again. He may end up sitting in the horse trailer if he can't keep from yapping.

The foward is working very well with PJ. I don't have to work as hard at it. We are maintaining a nice tempo these days.l I know that when I feel like I am out of control and we are just flying around that we are then correct.

The day dawned hot and muggy. I took Wyatt to the St. Croix Jack Russell Terrier Field Trial in Lake Elmo. I heard about this through a fellow townhomer who introduced me to her friend who owns a JRT and does these trials with her dog Daisy. They ended up taking two third places the day I was there.

Little did I know I would enter him in the most difficult class the Ball Toss. HA! Just kidding. This was the only class that didn't require any training just ballability. He figured it out so fast. His best time was 2.54, yes, that is seconds. Remember, he is a little guy. The others were much faster but the crowd was applauding Wyatt for his style - bounding with ears flying. There were dunk tanks all over so Wyatt got to go swimming quite a lot. We checked everything out - obedience, confirmation, go to ground and agility. Towards the end of day people were saying Hi to Wy as we walked by.

We won one of the raffle baskets and Wy has lots of new toys, a choker, leash, shirt and jacket (with pockets - he can carry some of his own stuff).

It was nice to compare Wyatt to other JRT's. I know I am partial but he is the CUTEST! He was one tired puppy well until about 9:30 when he got his second wind . . .

Next time there is a fun day we are going to try our hand (or should I say paw) at Go To Ground. I sure don't want to keep any rat at my house!
